Meditation trekking aims to get your
mind, body and spirit in rhythm with existence.
Mediation is done to get in tune with the nature and our surroundings
and the best way to do that is by being one with nature itself. You
could be meditating on the banks of some of the most beautiful lakes in
the Himalayas or walking along the banks of a river, but the idea is to
absorb the beauty and grandeur of nature.
The concept of meditation trekking involves Zen walk along the high
Himalayan belt in Leh, Ladakh and is the Dhauladhar ranges in and
around Dharamsala. However we need a minimum of 5 participants for this
program. You will be trekking with a meditation teacher who will
obviously be talking to you and discussing meditations or other ancient
stories in the Tibetan tradition. Rather than sitting in a class room
environment you would be trekking and learning
Meditation Trekking Retreats (5 to 7 days) are conducted from mid May
to till the end of September (Ladakh). In Sham, the Meditation trekking
retreat starts from Liker to the Vipassana Valley in Tingmosgang
Village. Between these two points, pass many villages like Yangthang,
Rizdon Monastery, Himesshukpachan and Tseskarma Gonpa. The trek offers
views of streams, snow capped mountains, rocks and passes.
Not only will you benefit physically but your mind will be at peace as
well. If you ever wanted to get a taste of what it might have been for
the traditional lamas who wandered on these mountains meditating, this
Meditation Trekking pretty much comes the closest to giving you such an
experience nowadays.
The cost of the Trek includes, Accommodation, Pony, Cook, Guide and
Meditation teacher. However please bear in mind that these treks can be
conducted from May till September (Ladakh) only as after this it tends
to get really cold. Treks to Dharamsala are open throughout the year.
" Of all the things I have done in my life, trekking along the
mountains in Leh, meditating in the farthest most remote monasteries
and listening to this man speak of ancient traditions was the most
fulfilling and innocent thing ever" Romana, Italy
