I don’t know what I want to do in Life?

This is perhaps one of the most interesting answers I hear from people who are kind of stuck or not even stuck they are either indifferent to what they achieve and perhaps also not in a hurry to find out what they want.

Either you are not really comfortable with what your peers perhaps want you to do

Or maybe what you want to do does not fit the traditional mould.

If you are one of those people who are a bit confused and perhaps not clear as to what you want these few exercises should help.

From now onwards be very specific in your everyday life about what you want. Forget the ambition, career, life etc. For a minute just come to basics of life. If you want to drink a cup of tea, drink a cup of tea and don’t settle for a coffee. If you want Orange Juice have Orange juice and don’t settle for Orange and Mango Juice. If you are in the mood to have Subway then have Subway only and don’t settle for anything else.

Participate in life. A 5 minute chat to a complete stranger on a bus might be more interesting than spending 2 hours reading a book. Giving a horrible speech on a stage might sometimes be more beneficial than reading about giving perfect speeches or listening to other people who are great speakers.

Do more and more things that you enjoy and less and less of things you don’t enjoy.

For 10 minutes every day, just exist. Don’t think about anything. If you cant do 10 to start with do 2 or 5 minutes. One of the ways to learn how not to think for 10 minutes is tie a rubber band to your wrist. And each time a thought enters your mind when you are just to exist, pull that rubber band and let it go so that it stings. Again if a thought comes to you pull the rubber band again. With practice you should be able to keep your mind silent.

Remember if you have to ask people whether its right or wrong, it’s probably wrong. When you know the answer you will not need to ask anyone. You will just know.

Namaste.
